Quotes of the day

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.
- Helen Keller

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
but I have promises to keep,
and miles to go before I sleep.
- Robert Frost

Catching up

Some photos from the Nikon that I didn't have a chance to upload earlier.
These should show up better than the cell phone shots.

Just can't get enough of Moraine Lake:

My wife says I don't take enough shots with me in them.
So I found some accommodating tourists to help.

Colorful lichens - they looked bright enough that they would glow in the dark.

More dangerous wildlife:

Just remembered a bear sighting that I didn't mention before.

While riding the excursion train out of Skagway, the guide told everybody to look out the left side toward the mountain across the canyon to search for mountain goats.
Everybody was straining to find a white speck among the thousands of white specks of snow pockets when I heard one guy say, "THERE!   THERE!"
I wondered why he was so excited, then I realized he was saying, "BEAR!  BEAR!".
I turned around just in time to see a small grizzly beside the tracks on the right side, watching the wide-screen panorama - a cage full of humans passing by for his amusement!

I met a couple from Australia on the train. She was intensely trying to see a mountain goat. I asked her what wildlife she had seen so far on her trip. She excitedly told me that while on one ride, she had seen a moose and a woodpecker!  I couldn't tell which had interested her more.

A better shot of Mt. Rundle in Banff:

Now... Time to ride.  East? North?

I... think... I... see... dinosaurs in my future.
:-)
